Beginning in September and continuing for the rest of the school year, every two weeks, BSLA hosts open discussions about specific topics related to the Black community. These discussions are called BLKChats. Our BLKChats are a melting pot of people with insightful thoughts, diverse perspectives and hilarious experiences.
A BLKChat highlight last year was our discussion on the Hypersexualization of Black Bodies, which stemmed from conversations about the controversial artist Sexyy Redd and the bold fashion choices at this year's BET Awards. This is a rampant issue within and outside the Black community, so we expected the conversations to be filled with strong opinions, vulnerable stories and hilarious experiences; we were happy that our members did not hold back. This is also an issue that is mainly focused on women, so when our male members gave a refreshing perspective to this topic we really appreciated it.
To keep it short and sweet (even though the last paragraph was not short), everyone is welcome to participate in BLKChats. Our lovely team is always coming up with thought-provoking topics
